Date of Passing: Mar 31, 2002
Offer Condolences or MemoryDANIEL BRUCE DITCHFIELD (June 19, 1951 - March 31, 2002) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. Early Easter Sunday morning, Daniel Ditchfield was embraced by our Heavenly Father. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 26 years, Wendy Gail (Greenaway) son Corey Bruce (Ma. Oneida) and daughters, Stacey Marie and Gloria Denise and two grandchildren, Glen and Marielle, who he loved and cherished. He was also survived by his sister Winnie (Eberhard) Schumann and brother Jerry Styn. He will be remembered by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Daisy Dorothy Thom. Dan was born and raised in Winnipeg and remained here throughout his life as he worked, lived and raised a family. A family oriented man, he took pride in being a good father and a caring husband. A memorial service is scheduled at Broadway Disciples United Church, 396 Broadway on Monday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m. Raymond A. Cuthbert will be officiating.

Dan and I were classmates at Principal Sparling school in the early elementary grades. I remember him as a quiet and gentle person. I also recall traipsing over to the landscaping yard his family ran on Notre Dame Ave., which was not far from our home near the north end of Garfield. There we would buy our annual Christmas tree and happily drag it back to our home where it would eventually warm up and unfold from its flattened shape into the wonderful symbol of the season. Ditchfiield’s was the only place we ever went for trees and we appreciated their contribution to the community and to the season. Of course it is all too easy to lose touch over the years but I am glad to read that Danny had good years at the centre of a growing family. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Barry Esselmont (Classmate) on: Dec 08, 2025
